[music |Sonne - Rammstein]

Welllll it's been a few days since I've updated. basically life has been the same, i got through hell week (aka the week after break) alive and with all my sanity so that's good. prom stuff is being settled quickly and without violence and drama which i am very thankful for. i sprained my ankle something horrible on saturday at the Blue Devil Classic (big track meet). What really sucks about it is that i did it on my first throw which means that one ended up only going 60 something feet which is below terrible for discus and then i had to forfeit my last two throws becuase i could barely stand up, much less spin and throw. so saturday was pretty shitty.

sunday i spent at home icing my damn foot, doing about 15 minutes of homework and looking up laptops for college. i think i'm more excited about getting my laptop than going to college lol.

Ap's are soon....kill me now.

[music |Vertigo - U2]

So spring break is almost over. Last spring break I'll ever have in high school...not that I mind that.

Went to the Auto Show a week ago in the city. Fucking amazing. I think my dad and I were there for about 4 hours. I sat in so many incredible cars. Took lots of pictures...an overall amazing experience.

I took first place in our first dual meet with Cranford in the discus for track. My winning throw sucked ass, but they were pretty bad so I guess I lucked out.

Not much else to report right now.

[music |Theme from Shaft - Isaac Hayes]

Well I got into Loyola today, and that officially ends the college process for the next month. I will have to wait until about mid-May for Johns Hopkins to tell me if they can accept me off their waitlist. In the meantime I will be sending in the $800 deposit to George Washington.
I really reflected today and decided that I will not give in to the Westfield mentality surrounding GWU. It's a great school, especially for what I want to major in. The location is perfect. And they clean freshmen rooms on Tuesday. End of story. I don't care what other people think, that they think it's a second-tier school, because it isn't. If I don't get in to Johns Hopkins I'll go to GWU, excel and get the 4.0 GPA, get a master's degree from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (best international relations graduate program in the world), and then go to some top law school. End of story.
Phew...now I feel better.

So here's the final college list:

5 Acceptances - The George Washington University, Loyola College in Maryland, American University, Dickinson College, Goucher College.

1 Waitlist - The Johns Hopkins University.

3 Rejections - Georgetown University, Tufts University, The College of William and Mary.

[music |none]

Well today has been a better day than the past few. I got into the Elliot School of International Affairs at George Washington University. I'm very happy about that as I like GWU very much and think it's a great school. Also, I was waitlisted at Johns Hopkins which is a huge relief for me. I thought I was going to be outright rejected. But now I have one foot in the door and hopefully I'll be able to get the other one in with it.

I dunno, I know that GWU is a great school but I know a bunch of people who got into Harvard, Columbia, etc. and I just feel like GWU isn't good enough. No big statesmen, Secretaries of State, etc. graduated from GWU as undergraduates. Sure, a few went there as graduate students but I feel like if I go there I won't be able to achieve the things I want to. I know, it's a stupid thing to think, but I can't shake the feeling that GWU just isn't good enough. Argh!

Well I got into Dickinson and I was rejected from Tufts. I'm extremely disappointed, moreso than with Georgetown and William and Mary. I've been a big fan of the school for years and getting this letter was killer. But this isn't over. I'm having my guidance counselor call them tomorrow or sometime soon and challenging this shit. I'm just getting ridiculously discouraged right now, and I still have Johns Hopkins and George Washington coming. But if I didn't get into Tufts what hope do I have with JHU and to an extent GWU. My life sucks right now....I can probably kiss a decent law school goodbye. Sweet.

[music |Smile Like You Mean It - The Killers]

Well I was rejected by William and Mary today. It really came as no surprise but I was still very disappointed. I got even angrier than when I didn't get into Georgetown and I think it's because the stress of rejections is starting to pile on. I'm becoming very very worried that I'll be stuck going to American...not that it isn't a good school but I'd like to think that I could go somewhere better.
William and Mary is just such a good school for what I want to study. On the other hand it's really in the middle of nowhere and there doesn't seem to be much campus life but I still think it would have been so awesome to get a degree from there. Well now I'm waiting on Johns Hopkins, Tufts, and George Washington. Loyola and Dickinson still have to send their answers but I'd probably go to American over those two as its international relations program is stronger and its location is better.

Well, I'll let you know how it all goes in the end.

[music |America - P.O.D feat. Santana]

Well I was rejected from Georgetown today, and I know this is going to sound egotistical but if they don't want someone like me in their school and all they're looking for are super worksluts then fuck them. They probably looked at my less-then-stellar SAT score and decided that because I couldn't take a test I didn't deserve to go to their school. F THAT. I actually find it rather offensive that someone would decide what may be my future on a bunch of numbers. What I really like is that they expect you to buy the line, "we reviewed your entire application." That's a load of shit if I've ever heard it. Schools like Georgetown are obsessed with numbers. I don't understand why they can't view an applicant as someone more than what they do in school solely. I think that I have a lot to offer, obviously they don't agree. Well it's their loss I suppose and I have to move on. I know that my guidance counselor is going to want to call them and challenge the rejection, we'll see how that goes.
I think what annoys me the most is that all colleges seem to care about is how well you can do there, not the type of future you have. It's just so narrow-minded and myopic. I just don't want to believe that the next generation of people who will run the country and be our "best and brightest" are people who do little or nothing besides work.
Anyway, I'm ranting and angry so if I managed to offend anyone in the course of this entry, I'm sorry.

[music |Prodigy - Smack My Bitch Up]

So nothing too eventful today. I did, however, get into another one of my safeties, Goucher College in Maryland. They're also offering me a $10,000 per year scholarship...damn. Right now I probably wouldn't go, but the money does seem really really appealing. I don't know, maybe I'll end up there...who knows?

Besides that everything is pretty normal...mmm, normal.

[music |Paul van Dyk vs. Second Sun - Crush (Vandit Dub)]

rockin' some trance tonight. it's been a while since i've listened to this stuff.

Well it's Monday, and that's not really a good thing by itself. But, this is another 4-day week, so that's good. I haven't had a full 5-day week since the week of Feb. 14, and the next one is the week of April 11, so that's cool.

Saturday was awesome. Met with some friends from Georgetown in Princeton. Haha, I said Georgetown and Princeton in the same sentence...God I sound so haute couture. +1. It was nice to escape Westfield and see people that I'm close friends with. Good times....

Well ladies and gentlemen, it seems as though my friend Rahul (from Georgetown) and I will be writing a book to be published by (fingers crossed) Simon & Schuster! It's going to be about the college admissions process as seen through the eyes of people who have just gone through it, and I believe we're actually going to go through with it! The prospectus is currently in the works, so I'll let you know how it's coming.

[music |Corazon Espinado - Carlos Santana]

yeah that's right, i'm rockin' the daily updates. dig.

so today there was a massive, massive anti-syria rally in lebanon. about 800,00-1,000,000 people packed the streets of Beirut. this one completely dwarfed the pro-syria rally sponsored by Hezbollah last week. it's good to know that the opposition is still more powerful than those thugs who call themselves patriotic lebanese (i.e. hezbollah and their supporters).

In other news, i and many of my classmates have officially declared war on Trisha Iannuzzi. she has crossed the line, and regardless of her being my teacher, she's going down. watch your back trish!

the AP Lang seminar paper is done. i really didnt think it was much of a hassle at all and the entire thing went by pretty damn fast. so it's cool that it's done, but it took me a while to realize it was even there. oh well.

congratulations to the people who got into college on this latest round of reponses. a special congratulations to Justin Goncalves for getting into Washington University in St. Louis early because he is of minority status (yeah, multicultural weekends! go frankie!)

yeah, that's about it for right now.
